Cancellation and Refund Policy

Last Updated/Reviewed on: September 10, 2026

This policy applies to all courses offered by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], doing business as Lumina ("Lumina," "we," "us," or "our"), and forms part of our Terms of Service.

Seats in hands-on courses are limited and materials are ordered per attendee, which is why the windows below are firm. Please read this policy before registering.

1.Cancellation by you, in-person courses

Written notice must be sent to [CONTACT EMAIL] and is effective on the date we receive it.

When we receive your notice

What you receive

[30] or more days before the course start date

Full refund, less a [AMOUNT OR PERCENTAGE] administrative fee

[15] to [29] days before

[50]% refund, or full credit toward a future course valid for [12] months

[14] days or fewer before

No refund. A seat transfer may be available under Section 3

After the course has started, or non-attendance

No refund

2.Deposits

[COMPLETE IF DEPOSITS ARE USED. STATE WHETHER THE DEPOSIT IS REFUNDABLE, THE AMOUNT, AND THE DATE THE BALANCE IS DUE. IF THE DEPOSIT IS NON-REFUNDABLE, SAY SO PLAINLY HERE AND ALSO AT CHECKOUT.]

3.Transfers and substitutions

Transfer to a future course.

You may request a one-time transfer of your registration to a future session of the same course, subject to availability, if we receive your request at least [15] days before the start date. A transfer fee of [AMOUNT] may apply. If the future course has a higher price, you pay the difference.

Substituting another attendee.

You may send a qualified colleague in your place at no additional cost if we receive written notice at least [7] days before the start date and the substitute meets the course prerequisites and completes registration.

4.Online and on-demand courses

Because access is delivered immediately and cannot be returned, online and on-demand courses are refundable only if you request a refund within [NUMBER] days of purchase and have not accessed more than [PERCENTAGE OR NUMBER OF MODULES] of the content. After that, no refund is available.

Access to online course content is provided for [DURATION, e.g. 12 months from enrollment] through [LMS NAME].

[IF YOU SELL TO CONSUMERS IN THE EU OR UK, THE STATUTORY WITHDRAWAL PERIOD AND THE REQUIRED WAIVER FOR IMMEDIATE DIGITAL DELIVERY MUST BE ADDRESSED HERE BY COUNSEL.]

5.Materials and kits

Where a course includes a materials kit, instruments, or shipped items, the value of items already shipped or already opened is non-refundable and will be deducted from any refund otherwise due. [STATE THE FIXED VALUE OR THE METHOD OF CALCULATION.]

6.Cancellation or postponement by Lumina

We may cancel or reschedule a course, for example because of insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, venue problems, or circumstances beyond our control.

If we cancel a course, you may choose a full refund of the amount you paid to us, or a credit for a future course valid for [12] months. If we postpone a course, you may transfer to the new date at no cost or take a full refund.

We are not responsible for your travel, lodging, or other expenses in either case. We recommend booking refundable travel or purchasing travel insurance.

7.Events beyond our control

If a course cannot proceed because of an event beyond our reasonable control, including natural disaster, severe weather, hurricane closure, public health order, strike, or loss of the venue, Section 6 applies. We will make reasonable efforts to reschedule before cancelling. [FLORIDA AND HURRICANE SEASON MAKE THIS SECTION WORTH KEEPING RATHER THAN DELETING, IF THE OPERATION IS BASED THERE.]

8.How to request a refund

Send your request to [CONTACT EMAIL] with your name, the course name and date, and the email used at registration. We will confirm receipt within [NUMBER] business days.

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method through [PAYMENT PROCESSOR NAME]. Depending on your bank or card issuer, funds may take [NUMBER] business days to appear. Any processing fees charged by the payment provider that are not returned to us [ARE / ARE NOT] deducted from your refund. [CONFIRM WITH THE PROCESSOR'S ACTUAL FEE TERMS AND STATE ONE OR THE OTHER, NOT BOTH.]

9.Chargebacks

If you have a concern about a charge, please contact us first. Initiating a chargeback without contacting us does not change the terms of this policy, and we may respond to the card issuer with this policy and your registration record.

10.Removal for conduct

As described in the Terms of Service, an attendee removed from a course for unsafe, disruptive, or harassing conduct is not entitled to a refund.

11.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version in effect on the date of your registration applies to that registration.
